Elbe Sandstone Mountains

Saxon Switzerland is a National Park in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains – situated upriver from Dresden, only about half an hour from Hotel am Blauen Wunder.

A surreal and unexpected landscape unfolds on both sides of the Elbe river. Enormous towering rock pinnacles protrude from deep, dark forests, flat table hills offer magnificent vistas. This giant sandstone maze is heaven for rock climbers and hikers, and a popular weekend getaway for the city dwellers of Dresden.
